I need want:

N Wales or Anglesey
Next to a beach or 5/10 min walk away
Toilets and free showers
At least something for the DCs to do onsite that is not just a big field even if it's just a climbing frame
Cheap
Not too massive

This campsite is lovely - we have been back times. The beach is clean and stunning. i'm not normally into the bigger sites with statics and a pub etc. on site but this one has a nice feel to it. It also has an adventure playground and a swimming pool. There is a very small airport nearby and you can go up in a plane over the menai straights / canaervan from there.

We're going here for June half term. Haven't been before, but might be what you are looking for??

Slubberdegullion · 26/04/2011 11:31

ime I have yet to find a cheap campsite that has free showers (although I haven't been family camping in this country for that many years). We prefer small and basic-ish sites and all the ones we go to you either have to shove 20ps in or buy a card/token.

I will lurk away on this thread like mad as your list of requirements is pretty much identical to mine.

We really liked this site near Tudweiliog on the Lleyn. 20min beautiful walk along the coastal path to Penllech beach (stunning) or 5-10 mins in the other direction to a small pebbly beach. iirc there was a children's play area, sandpit, rope swing and maybe a wendy house. Showers not free though sorry!

DuplicitousBitch · 26/04/2011 17:19

paying for showers pisses me off enormously. that looks a nice campsite slub

Slubberdegullion · 26/04/2011 17:34

Paying for showers that are SHIT showers pisses me off more than almost anything else in camping land, apart from maybe noisy neighbours/people that play music loudly/windbreak corrals/poorly guyed gazebos/people who chat and double rinse and generally take too long with the washing up when there is a queue.

The site is lovely DB. WHY can't we get showers right in this country? We are BRITISH fgs we practically invented civilised plumbing [ignores the Romans]

DuplicitousBitch · 26/04/2011 17:38

in scotland the free shower thing is more common i think.

keys for loo block is another bugbear

Slubberdegullion · 26/04/2011 18:24

I'd rather pay an extra quid a night and not fartarse about with coins and soap in my hair.

DuplicitousBitch · 26/04/2011 18:35

yes the russian roulette that is applying conditioner in a coin operated shower

Slubberdegullion · 26/04/2011 18:43

oh it is isn't it.

My mother in true methodist style used to shower herself, my sister and me all with one jeton when we camped as kids. It was a horrifying ordeal with hair and bottoms all roughly washed and orders being simultaneously shouted to rinse and stand clear.

I still can hear my sisters screams echoing in the cubicle and the French laydees cat bum faces as we all exited.

Slubberdegullion · 26/04/2011 18:44

Sister's screams. Only have one.

PaperView · 26/04/2011 21:25
