It's an Icey-Tek 10 day cool box. It's orange and a beast of a thing. Great big thick sides and latches and a lockable wotsit.

Have yet to test it out in anger but week before last we took it to the holiday cottage with some frozen food in and a couple of ice blocks in and 8 days later the ice blocks, although melted were STILL COLD.

It is the most of exciting kit I now own. I show it to everyone who comes to visit and they ALL make awe inspired noises and want to touch it.

Icey-Tek wonders.

A bit of a major splurge, in fact I bought it with the family silver (not directly in a period drama weeping woman fallen upon hard times and icey tek peddler with golden teeth on a horse drawn wagon fashion).

Justified the cost by imagining using it 30 years time with knee supports on (me not the icey tek) and regailing camping grandchildren of tales of 'when we had lovely cold wine on the Germany trip 2011'.

I want to be as free from electricity as possible .

AitchTwoOh · 25/04/2011 14:39

wowsers, it looks awesome. do tell me you have made your own winceyette cushion pad for it.

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 25/04/2011 15:27

Oh Sad

I have not made a matching cushion cover for it. We do not have room for a matching cushion, or any form of cool box cushion frippery for that matter.

I have absolutely no idea where the behemoth of a thing is going to fit anyway. Am in complete denial as to how all the new stuff is going get in the car. Am clinging on to the fact that the new sleeping bags are fractionally smaller than the old sleeping bags and in that 4cm squared of gained space I can put a table, 4 stools, the icey tek, a new peg puller, two delta rock pegs, the versatile bedding extravaganza and possibly a labrador.

la la laa

In dd2?

mm, yes I see the downside to that plan.

AitchTwoOh · 28/04/2011 08:35

the sleeping bag is here... it's ENORMOUS of course and seems lovely and warm.

Slubber, I bow down to your sleeping bag wizardry. I had no idea of your camping genius. Are you going to post pictures of your various sleeping bag inners. I saw some cheap ones in Tesco last week and would like your opinion on them, please. they just seemed like sheets sewn into a sleeping bag shape. Is that all an inner is? I also love your idea about the fleecy inners. Did you buy a cheap fleecy blanket and sew it, or did you buy fleecy material?

I also love the look of your cool-box, but the price! Also, the size!

Good luck with packing everything. I have very much slimmed down my list of must-haves to take with us. I think the list gets shorter each year.

On the actual OP, I would always take two sleeping bags with zips that you can have single or double. We find that works best for us.

AitchTwoOh · 28/04/2011 09:40

cheers judge j, too late! i'm pretty happy, push comes to shove we can all four of us get in there. Grin

Hmm, sleeping bag liners - is this something I can insist on having before I let DH drag us off to prehistoric times take us camping? Actually, I know he hates them, as he says his feet get tangled in them, but since DD2 boaked in my sleeping bag over Christmas, I'm coming round to the idea.

Good to see you back, Slubber.

Slubberdegullion · 28/04/2011 13:17

oh thank you Judy Blush. I won't pin on a 'sleeping bag wizard' yet as have yet to try them out. I'll take lots of photos though [must pack camera] and fingers crossed they will work. Yes an inner is basically a sheet cocoon sewed in a bag shape. They add warmth and keep your bag clean - much easier to wash and dry an inner than a complete bag.

I bought my blankets from Aldi a few months ago and have just added velcro and flaps.

re packing and the cool box...

well have just packed the car and the Icey-Tek has been renamed the Icey-Feck. Everything fitted so beautifully and nicely and then I remembered the ice box. Fucking hell it's a huge fucking orange monster. The cold beer better be worth it. dh is going to get a massive Hmm on when he sees it. We're not even taking the cobb or the utility tent and the car is pissing full.

Hi Poldera

Slubberdegullion · 28/04/2011 13:18

sorry there Aitch.

A whole new bedding test event.

DuplicitousBitch · 28/04/2011 13:24

AitchTwoOh · 28/04/2011 21:08

well i was wanting to go semi wild at inverkeithing but my sis who was going to be coming too is ill so it looks like it's just me and the dds. so will stay closer to home i think and go for lochwinnoch. might be chilly at night, 7degs supposedly. but i will have the two human torches with me.

Prunnhilda · 28/04/2011 21:10

Inverkeithing?! Is that at Duloch then? I've heard there's a v good campy place there.
(For future reference the fishmonger at Inverkeithing is surprisingly sexy.)

AitchTwoOh · 28/04/2011 21:14

noted. yes, i really want to go there but the forecast is 14 degs so the west coast is safer.
