Dp and I love to camp behind pubs when we can, sometimes with dcs, or like last night, alone when they're with their dad.

We had a night behind a lovely pub we go to. It's a camping and caravan certified site so only cost £6 to pitch. The meals are £10.95 for 2 and are delicious, plus there's real ale Grin No taxis to pay for either Wink

Anyone else tent camped in the UK yet? We can't wait to do some more.

aww never mind it'll soon come round. We're going when the dcs break up from school, just local though. That's if the weather holds?

Think we may get a camp midweek as exdh is having the boys overnight? Dp's off in the middle of the week, he works perm nights and his days off alter. The next camp will only cost us £5 plus our own food and drink as it's on a farmer's field next to the sea. Only a couple of miles away from where we live but it could be many miles it's so beautiful.

We decided on Thursday to go away this weekend and it was fantastic. We have a motorhome but there were lots of tents going up. We went to Lossiemouth and it was beautifull. Long beach, sun, there were even people in the water and really lovely restaurants in Lossiemouth.

Curiousmama · 10/04/2011 20:28

Is Lossiemouth Scotland? Can't say I've heard of it but sounds idylic Smile

Yes it is up in the NE coast. If you are lucky you see the Dolphins and Seals but unfortunately not this time.

Curiousmama · 11/04/2011 12:07

I had a google it's way up there! How far did you travel? I'm in NE England so even a trek for me. Looks beautiful though.

We live in Aberdeen so only 1.5 hours. There are lots of really nice places beside the coast up in that area. Findhorn is another lovely place with a caravan site. They dont all take tents so you would have to check in advance. Aberdeen is about 4 hours from Newcastle if that is any help.

Curiousmama · 11/04/2011 21:15

That's good it isn't far for you to go. I'll mention it to dp as he's our resident driver Wink I can drive but am just getting back into it.

This site was reccommended to us at the weekend. It even has a swimming pool so we might try there soon. Burnside Caravan Park Keith Road Fochabers Moray. St Fillans caravan site in Perthshire is also beautifull. It is at the side of the loch so plenty to do.

deste · 11/04/2011 21:56

Recommended even.

Curiousmama · 12/04/2011 09:05

well I was hoping to camp tonight just up the road by the sea but although sunny it's very cold. Hope you enjoy Burnside when you go there deste?

We went to Eskdale on Saturday/ Sunday.
Stayed at a place called Fisherguard.

Nice enough.
I'm trying to plan 1 weekend a month camping with family
I've got about two weekends a month camping with work up to about September booked so far. Can be a good thing if the weather is good and the groups are good!!

Curiousmama · 13/04/2011 16:00

Camping with work? What job do you do? Did you mean Fisherground? We've camped at Muker before and dp and I Tan hill. Oh that was an experience Grin

There is quite a good adventure park on the site with old tyres used as rafts which is good fun. The views are great and we went to the local pub off site (about 200 meters if that ) called George iv. Very nice.

Curiousmama · 14/04/2011 08:31

Sounds fab, I've saved it in my holiday favourites Smile

First camp next Tuesday & Wednesday with dh as dc's are off on holiday with grandparents.

Going to stay at the devizes c&cc site and do the wadworth brewery tour on Tuesday followed by a 40 mile cycle ride to Bath and back on wednesday. Have done it before and it turns into a bit of a crawl going back to the tent as we have to rest at every pub on the way back Blush

Am looking forward to doing some adult camping for the first time in a couple of years and to trying out my new quechua pop up.

Then we family camp at Dernwood Farm for 3 nights over the wedding bank holiday weekend.

Curiousmama · 14/04/2011 20:37

Ooo how exciting Nikkid21 Grin Sounds like the sort of thing we'd do. Dp cycles and I could work up to it?? Have a great time.
