Can anyone recommend a campsite on the IOW for the end of the summer that's not on the edge of a cliff?

Hi,

Now that we've spent all that money on gear I'm determined to make the most of it so I'm looking for an end of summer trip to the Island. I grew up there and my father lives there but I don't know much about camping there.

The main priority is clean clean clean loos and showers. EHU is also important. I used to say quiet too but with DD4 and DS3 I'm learning that if it's too quiet you are more conscious of your own noise! We don't need entertainment etc but a shop and or small pool would be a bonus.

Any recommendations will be much appreciated!

The Orchards has nice indoor and outdoor pools.

Thank you! Have sent them and e-mail about end of summer availability. Hmmm, bank holiday weekend or the one before? Would the one before be quieter and cheaper?!

Thank you again ChippyMinton. I had this reply back from the Orchards: "Our minimum bookings for these dates is 5 nights. However to check availability if you wanted to book we will need full dimensions of tent when it is put up, plus any attatchments. If you wanted to use a gazebo it has to be added to tent size and used along side of the tent" Sounds like a lot of faff, think I will keep looking.

We had a week at Whitefield Forest last July, it was very nice and quiet and is inland (between Ryde and Brading). Clean toilet block, reception sells essentials but 24hr Tesco is only 5 mins drive away. No pool or bar, there is a play area, was very pleasant.

Ooh, thank you! I like the look of Whitefield forest. The deals with ferry look pretty good too.

I used to go to Bembridge School which is now some kind of activity centre I think, right next to Whitecliff Bay. We used to sneak down to the shop there to buy cigarettes!!! ;-) It would be nice to stay there sometime for old times sake :-)
