We have an Outwell sun valley 8 which is fab when we're away for a couple of weeks, but a bit big and long to pitch for one night away. Do any of you happy campers know of a truly quick to pitch 6 man tent to house my, DH and 4 children 10 and under. When we went ot north Spain everyone had Quechuas but their biggest pop up isn't big enough. Any ideas?

We have just invested in a Khyam; their rigipod (sp?) system is quick erect (when you know how!)

The new Vango Airbeam Envy takes about 36 seconds to pump up!

Wow Does that really work. What happens in a strong wind or if you get a puncture?

ABitBatty · 04/03/2011 19:43

Well apparently they are really stable, cost £700+ for the biggest one and apparently modelled on Karsten tents (Dutch I think) hailed as the most stable tents ever made. The 'beams' are really thick, not as thin as you might expect. Like tyres they feel like, sort of. I saw them at the Outdoor Show last week - really brilliant.

There's videos of them here:

I want one Envy

Oh, and the beams can be removed in case of a puncture but apparently is highly unlikely, and can be repaired easily like a bicycle tyre puncture.

How about 2 quechuas connected? When we went to France two families near us had this. They used one big Quechua in the middle for eating, etc and slept in others off at an angle. Friends of ours also had the Quechua that sleeps 2, but you can add a tall Quechua to that. I would love them, but as we've got a folding camper, DH won't hear of it.

If you look on the UKcampsite website at the tent reviews you can see pictures of multiple Quechuas that have been joined together.

Thankyou. I shall have fun researching your suggestions.

Bumping for inspiration, as we're in this predicament too.

We bought an Airbeam a few weeks ago and will be trying it out this weekend so will let you know how quick it really is!
