We are looking for a natural campsite by the beach in south west France. We DON'T want kids clubs, pool, evening entertainment etc... We do want quiet, by/on beach, simple but decent facilities...

We are three families with kids 2-8 years. We are camping in the pyranees and then wanted to camp by the coast somewhere on way back home, in August for about 5 days.

Any suggestions much appreciated. All internet searches seem to come up with all singing all dancing holiday parks which is not what we are after this year! :)

Not sure if this is the right area, but we went to Noirmoutier Island last year, an Indigo campsite, although there were lots more - its on the west coast, lovely island, they have one further south too I think...in the woods, but with beachside pitches, can dig for clams etc on the beach everyday, the island is lovely, mostly saltmarsh but flat and cycling is lovely there, very easy nd safe, we took dd aged 5 months in a cycle trailer round the whole island, also lots to do in the town, seal life centre etc, but the campsite was very quiet and fairly basic, but very clean.

Sorry, meant Indigo have a campsite further south, if you search indigo it has them all on a map. Also Huttopia, we stayed in the versailles one, was brilliant - they are linked I think.

Try UK campsite - its a great site, and they have search facilities for france.

Great recommendation - looks lovely and I didn't realise that UK campsite did france as well.

THANKS!

Bel campsite at Jard sur Mer is lovely and no frills, beautifully situated and friendly.

My SIL recommends the camping Municipal at Notre Dame de Monts (maybe further up than you want to go (but near missmakes' suggestion of Noirmoutier.

Apparantly you can bike everywhere, it's in the pine trees and you walk over dunes to the beach.

No pool.
