Anybody been to Lincoln Farm Park near Oxford?

My mother has booked us all in here just after easter. The AA "best campsite of the year 2010" claims and indoor swimming pool won me over but I was wondering if anybody had any more less biased reviews?

My particular questions are:

  1. Is it worth booking a private slot in the pool for us all.
  1. Are the showers clean?
  1. Are there taps and grey water drainage next to each pitch?

Thank you!

We went last summer. We are quite new to camping so don't have much to compare.

The campsite was great, lovely staff and good location. Swimming pools lovely. We went to daily communal and one private slots in the pool, but we only booked it once we arrived. I would wait and see what you think when you arrive as we found the times of the communal slots the most convenient,

Showers were lovely.

Not all plots had water/waste.

The shop cooks fresh croissants/pain au choc each morning if you order the night before - delicious. You can walk to a couple of pubs which serve nice food. Walk to a good park with tennis courts and play area and catch a bus directly to oxford. My only downside is I think the pitches could be more spaced out.

Have a great holiday.

Thank you both! It's looking promising still, especially with the croissants etc!

We keep returning to the same campsite in france and have only really been to 2 in the UK so we're quite new to this too.

This site is wonderful though, a great help and full of so many kind people.

Which campsite do you recommend in france? We are daring ourselves to go camping there this summer, but no firm plans yet.

Hi "Ineedaliein"! I love your name - having just spent a disrupted night with 2 ill children wanting to share our bed I need one too!

We are quite new to this family camping game so are not experts on anything. When I was younger I used to go with my parents to Carnac in Brittany so we headed back there again with our children. It's about a 2 1/2 hr (I think!) drive from St. Malo, we get the overnight ferry from portsmouth so it works quite well.

Carnac is a lovely area with some nice beaches. We stay in the next sort of village, La Trinite sur Mer at this campsite: en.camping-de-la-baie.net/. It's not huge with lots of facilites but is in a great location surrounded by beaches, is clean and quiet but has a lovely pool, restaurant on the beach, shop etc. Hope this helps.

"INeedALieIn" - our campsite is also still a eurocamp site: www.eurocamp.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=campsites.resortOverview&ver=1&MasterCode=136

That's how we did it the first time as we weren't sure what we needed etc with children. The tents etc are great but you get better pitches by yourself and there's no place like your own tent is there!

I'll check it out.

I too need a lie in - my youngest has had the dreaded lurgy for 8 days now. Completely fine all day, but up all night with a bucket :(
