Ideally I'd like to be able to stand up (I'm 160cm according to the conversion I've just done), so this would fit the bill with 165cm of headroom in the porch

but this one has a lovely big window at the front for me to be nosey through, although it only has 150cm of headroom

So what would you plump for to make you feel less claustrophobic with a 3 year old? Being able to stand up straight or a big window?

I would say the blue - you've still got a window for nosiness. Not being able to stand up properly would be a complete pain IMHO.

MamaVoo · 14/02/2011 19:25

Thanks Marlin. I feel about 90 most days anyway so stooping wouldn't help.

Right, total novice here but Gelert is a trusted brand and have never heard of that Star-whatever-it-is. The blue one looks much roomier too.

Loolah · 14/02/2011 21:12

i haven't looked at the pics but as a seasoned camper go with the one that you can stand up in especially if planning to camp for more than 2 days at a time

Ineedalife · 14/02/2011 21:50

I agree about being able to stand up but I have to say that outdoor revolution tents are superb, we have had one for nearly 4 years and use it for our main holidays[its a big one]. It is well made and keeps all kinds of weather out.

I know there used to be a starcamper 4 which is bigger and much taller but don't know if it would be in your price range or even available anymore.

Good luck whatever you choose.

Not anti gelert but I know these tents are good.Smile.

If you can afford the extra I would thoroughly recommend this Khyam. we have it & it is great. Can stand up in bedrooms as well! If you are nosey there are windows you can look through whilst laying in sleeping bags Grin

Milliways · 14/02/2011 22:19

Oh, and you can get it cheaper from some camping stores!

chipmonkey · 14/02/2011 23:54

See, I knew there would be someone along who would say the star one was a good tent! Grin

Thanks for all the advice. I looked at the Khyam and the Starcamper 4 and both look like good tents, but I think I might struggle to put them up on my own so will stick to a 3 berth for now as it's just for me and DS. I'll go for the headroom this time.

So excited to be taking DS on his first camping trip Grin

and Sleeve Sale on now! :)

I can put our Winnipeg up by myself, but it IS much easier with another pair of hands to hold things steady. We love it as it has 5000HH, and I agree with the others that it is not worth going below 3000.
