hi ladies

right cant decide how to get to our destination

ferry - if we get the ferry would be from portsmouth - so an hours drive to port then 4 hours to france then a 3 hour drive
ferry would cost £400 ish
never been that keen on ferries get travel sick so not so keen on this option

plane - would go from gatwick - 2 hour drive - 1 hour on plane then 1 hours drive in france to destination
parents would get tunnel and pick us up in france

euro tunnel - 2.5 hours to get to tunnel
1 hour on train
7 houirs driving in france to destination

I'd say it is longer than 7 hours drive from Calais. We stayed in that area a few years back.

Do NOT get the Vomit Comet (Fastcraft) Grin

We go Portsmouth Caen and drive, get an early ferry and on site mid afternoon. Better still, take the longer overnight ferry, booking reclining chairs (£5 each) and take a pillow/blanket for the kids. Then get there mid morning!

Flying seriously restricts your luggage.

We have driven from Calais (did ferry) but it is a drag. We save that for 2 day drives to the South or Spain.

we used to do long crossing now do euotunnel via tesco clubcard, late at night, cheap hotel outside calais then drive like mad from 9 am. We usually go 7 hours drive max in one day
