Now have got our tent (Hartford XL) very excited to go away. Kids have sleeping bags sorted and so do I but DP is being a pain in the arse and saying he HAS to take a duvet with him!!!! I am keen to keep luggage to a minimum! DP is 6'5" and well built with it and finds it hard to sleep in a 'normal' size sleeping bag. What oh what can we use instead of a bloody massive kingsize duvet!Shock Do sleeping bags come extra large!?

I have also just been reading threads on thermarests and remember I have one which I slept on for 8 weeks in Africa when younger! Said to DP that we could just get another one for him - but no wants a kingsize aerobed! AARRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! Confused

You can get double sleeping bags.

Kbear · 09/01/2011 22:03

and when you're freezing your arse off in a field you will wish you'd bought the aerobed and the king size quilt... don't say I didn't warn you!

A lot of sleeping bags are 230cm in length, just get a retangular one instead of a mummy style. I'm 6'5", not exactly thin and easily cope with a 230cm rectangular bag and a Fat Airic (similar to thermarest).

take the duvet

DuplicitousBitch · 11/01/2011 19:55

take the duvet, you don't get prizes for the smallest bedding

I think the secret of a good camping trip is a comfortable night's sleep.

Go on - let your husband take his duvet. In our house, everybody gets to choose their own sleep set-up, then absolutely no complaining about it is allowed once we get there. [harsh but fair emoticon]

in mountain warehouse they had 'xl' bigger than average sleeping bags too x

ratspeaker · 24/01/2011 23:41

I'd go for the duvet ( and would prob nab a pillow too )
Having said that I got an XL sleeping bag off ebay for my son
Got for the airbed too and don't forget to take a pump either battery operated or one that runs from the car lighter
