Booking a campsite in the Vendee

Hi,

We have decided that we are going camping in the Vendee this summer (me, DH, DS 4yo, DD 1yo). We have all the gear but have yet really to camp - used to do it with my family as a child and loved it.

We plan on going very end of June/July for about 3 weeks. We want to book somewhere but I am not sure how it all works. If we book somewhere for 3 weeks and then decide after 1 week to move on, do we have to pay for the 3 weeks? Or do we just pay for what we have "used"?

I am sure if we book for 3 weeks we will want to move on but if we only book 1 week, we will decide it is fantastic and then won't be able to stay longer because it will be booked up.

What do you all do? Ideally we would like to stay put as don't want to have to pack up the tent, etc again. Just not sure of all the protocol, etc and would like to try and get this right!

Many Thanks for your help! Smile

Being paranoid i wouldn't want to risk turning up without a booking - but i know that's what most people seem to do on the continent. Wee went to Luxembourg last year and booked a site ahead, and they didn't want any payment beforehand so I was worried our pitch may have not been reserved - but on arrival it was - phew - and we were told to just pay on the last day for the nights we had stayed, not our initial number of nights reserved. I don't know if this is common practice or not though. Not much help i know!
