Ok so I really want to go to Northumberland at half term with our caravan, preferavly near Alnwick castle. Can anyone tell me where to stay? I need a play area for DCs, and decent washrooms as it will probably be cold out. In an ideal word a swimming pool would be great too, but the only ones i have found like that get slated in their reviews, or charge a fortune! Help!

Was it Haggerston Castle camp site that you saw with bad reviews?
definitely don't go to 'Sandy Bay' as it has a view of a power station :(

My sister has been to Haggerston Castle a few times and she likes it but I don't know how good it is.
I'm from Northumberland but can't really be much more help sorry.

lol, thought so Grin
have you thought about Kielder?
There are some lovely log cabins up there, and they're quite reasonable but it's not near Alnwick at all.
I always look at Hoeseasons but they are more for caravans/lodges.

Oh sorry, just saw that you have your own Caravan.

How are you getting on , have you found anywhere yet?

East Ord caravan Site is a lovely clean site which is in Berwick probably 30 miles from Alnwick Castle and a couple of miles from the Haggerston Castle site. Play area for kids, lovely clean washrooms and nice country house for meals on site. No swim pool but there is a leisure centre in Berwick with a nice pool. Berwick is a lovely historical town also.

We've stayed here at Waren near Bamburgh and it was lovely. We went up last October and the weather was great - they were just on the verge of closing for the winter break so it is worth checking if they are still open. Facilities are fine but no pool I'm afraid - the one they have is outside so a bit chilly in October!
