It seemd like a good idea when we booked, I think of Sept as being great weather.

We are...no electric eitherHmm

We are only going very local so if it's too cold after the first night we'll come home but I'm hoping it will be ok.

It's been gorgeous the last couple of days but north winds are coming, could get down to below 10c Saturday night. Brr!

DS's and I have brand new thermal undies, DH thinks he doesn't need themHmm and we will be taking extra fleeces.

I'm just not ready to pack away the tent for the season yet...that may all change after this weekend thoughGrin

SixtyFootDoll · 23/09/2010 15:15

Weh have thermal wellies an wine, are only 45 mins form home.
I am just not ready to accept that Summer is over!
Good luck!

We are, too. We are only 45 minutes from home, too. When we booked the weather was meant to be nice! We're taking sleeping bags and duvets, fan heater..... I just wasn't ready to pack away for the winter yet.

SixtyFootDoll · 23/09/2010 20:54

Glad I'm not the only one was beginning to feel a bit foolish, we are taking 13tog duvets and sleeping bags and are planing on keeping the fan heater on all night if necessary.

I camped last weekend, was fine at night all snug under a big duvet & sleeping bag :)

But the morning was cold having breakfast and packing up, brrrrr.

Enjoy :)

brightwell · 23/09/2010 20:59

We are, a crowd of us are meeting up at a local campsite. I've only just remembered I'd promised to make cakes...apple traybake is in the oven.
I've packed winter pj's, loads of fleece blankets & hot water bottles. that reminds me, I need to pack the jar of hot chocolate.

SixtyFootDoll · 23/09/2010 22:16

Of course hot water bottles >>>>>>

We can't fit duvets in the car. Not unless we leave the children at homeConfused

Have packed hats and gloves for us all though.

I hate being cold...No idea why I like camping really, I wander about looking like the michelin man most of the timeGrin

Hope everybody enjoys your weekend and it's not too chilly.

SixtyFootDoll · 24/09/2010 12:26

Well we have as much gear in our car for a weekend as we did for a fortnight Confused

Off in about an hour, have fun everyoen!!

Mercedes · 24/09/2010 16:28

We are off on Sat for 1 night. We reckon the car will be as full as normal judging form the amount of extra layers, be it duvets or clothes, we're putting in the car.

benbon · 25/09/2010 20:54

well i did friday. was so chuffing cold came home early today... but was quite nice as packed up in no rush got home about 3.. and am now looking forward to my lovely warm bed...

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 26/09/2010 14:58

Well, we survived the weekend...just. It was really cold Friday night, not quite so bad Saturday.

We had the campsite virtually to ourselves, only some cyclists Friday night and a couple of other families Saturday night. They were both packed and gone this morning before we had finished breakfast!

We need a trailer or a new car or something. We have a roofbox and reasonably sized boot but the car was so full, ds2 could hardly see out for pillowsConfused

SixtyFootDoll · 26/09/2010 15:05

We survived, Friday was cold Saturday was FREEZING!

But the camp site was packed I thought we would be the only daft ones.

Doyou - we are looking into trailers, our roof box was bursting and the kids were wedged in the back!

brightwell · 26/09/2010 15:08

We survived....I'm now thawing out. Must invest in ear muffs.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 26/09/2010 18:32

We were talking about getting a trailer over supper SixtyFootDoll. I think the boot plus roofbox plus trailer combination may be the only way for us.

brightwell, me and the ds's had hats with flaps that went over our ears. Not very stylish on a grown woman but my ears were as warm as toast.

hillbilly · 26/09/2010 18:41

Just got back from Wowo and had great time with fantastic weather. A little chilly but we had a roaring fire going most of the time!

I feel very smug as it rained all the way there and all the way back!!!

SixtyFootDoll · 26/09/2010 19:49

Eaar muffs sound good.
I do love camping despite the cold, we were sat havig lunch al fresco yesterday with our pals, drinking wine then a walk in the forest after, it was fab

We survived, too. Friday night was cold, but friends had big enough tent for us all to eat in. Cold at bedtime, but had taken enough stuff for us to stay warm. Saturday started off nice, had BBQ for dinner and friends had BBQ that turned into firepit so stayed up and watched that. I had forgotten how fascinating a real fire is.

We were cold when we first went to bed on Saturday, but it got warmer through the night. Absolutely chucked it down while packing up and still is, which is a pain in the neck. I don't know when we'll be able to unfold the FC. Will have to do it in a day or two, rain or not.

That's it now for the year. Did enjoy it.
