We might like it!!! Shame about your son though :(

MrsWobbleTheWaitress · 10/08/2010 17:14

Why can't you go? We nearly always have an ill child when we camp - I think we're jinxed!

marley285 · 10/08/2010 17:20

ok let me know, lunavix, not sure if you can cat me? he has chicken pox wtw

bloss · 10/08/2010 17:32

If lunavix can't, we would absolutely love it! We also had a holiday disaster this summer and couldn't go on the one we'd planned and paid for, so I truly sympathise...

Hope your ds is feeling better soon.

MrsWobbleTheWaitress · 10/08/2010 17:33

Yeah, I saw that, marley. Still don't get it.

marley285 · 10/08/2010 17:45

sorry don't get what?

My friend has just taken her dd to butlins with chickenpox, cant see the problem going camping while he has it. How old is he?

marley285 · 10/08/2010 17:50

he is only 4 and really poorly with it, so no i won't take him - i know when i'm ill all i want to do is be at home. funny how it effects kids differently

MrsWobbleTheWaitress · 10/08/2010 17:52

I don't get not taking a child camping just because they have chicken pox. They don't care where they are. My Dd had chicken pox when we were away, and just laid in the tent with me, and slept. When she slept, I went out and joined everyone else, and when she had the energy, she got to enjoy parts of the camping.

Go for it! Take a duvet and some calamine lotion, and be prepared to do all the nursing you would be doing at home.

MrsWobbleTheWaitress · 10/08/2010 17:52

And if he's feeling poorly now, he'll almost certainly be on the mend by Thursday - I bet he'll at least have a chance of really enjoying hte last couple of days.

lunavix · 10/08/2010 17:53

oh no that sounds awful, give it to Bloss :)

buggylovinmummy · 10/08/2010 17:56

I was thinking the same as Mrswobble that he will be much better by thursday, my ds whos also 4 had it a few weeks back and he was a bit grumpy with a temperature for the first couple of days then he was running about like normal after that.

buggylovinmummy · 10/08/2010 17:57

It will be annoying if hes fine in a few days and you could of gone Smile

lollyheart · 10/08/2010 17:59

I would still go as long as he is not contagious sp?.

All the fresh air will do him good Smile

MyMamaToldMe · 10/08/2010 18:01

Isn't chicken pox contagious? I was told to keep my dd at home until the last scab dropped off so as not to infect anyone else.

Pity about your camping trip!

marley285 · 10/08/2010 18:10

tbh, not too worried about missing this one, as only went a couple of weekends ago. Bloss/lunavix let me know if you want it. thanks

OP posts:
MrsWobbleTheWaitress · 10/08/2010 19:22

They only need to have scabbed over, not dropped off. And how close is he likely to get to other children? He'll be outdoors and he's old enough to stay within an agreed boundary.

bloss · 10/08/2010 21:57

Lunavix - my sob story was not intended to be a device to jump the queue! If you can go this weekend, you should. But if you can't, then yes please, marley, that would be absolutely wonderful!! (Especially since the holiday that fell through was a camping one.)

I have tried cat-ing you, marley, but it's turned off. If you need to, you can cat me (are you subscribed?). Or I'll find an email address that I can put on the page!

marley285 · 11/08/2010 08:17

hi, i looked into how to cat, but yes saw i need to be subscribed - which i can sign up for if you def want it, or let me know a email address, happy either way. thanks

OP posts:
bloss · 11/08/2010 09:31

Well, I still think lunavix should come first. But if that doesn't work out, I definitely would like it! I can CAT you if you tick the box which says that I'm allowed to contact you through that. (That bit's free for you.) If you don't want to do that, then do sign up for CAT and of course I will pay you back the cost of the subscription. And then you can CAT me.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/08/2010 09:38

It would be horrible to be camping in the ill part of chickenpox! all sweaty and itchy and needing cool baths and perhaps something like telly to take your mind off it. Mrswobble, don't you think he might need the loo sometimes?

Marley its lovely of you to pass it on :)

marley285 · 11/08/2010 12:00

ok bloss, i've changed it so you can cat me, hope i've done it right Confused. hear from you soon
