So did you find each other??!!
We just got back yesterday after staying an extra couple of days.
I thought LV was as lovely as ever - hope you guys all had a fantastic time too. Though I have to say, I was shocked by the amount of Brits there!!!! Maybe we haven't been as inconspicuous as we thought and everyone has seen our recommendations and booked......!!!!!

Sorry I didn't catch up with anyone (noone came to find me either!). As you said Batteryhuman, it would have been a bit embarrassing to shout mumsnet names round the pool! I was expecting just a few Brits like last year and thought it would be obvious who's who, but no it wasn't!!

Anyway, we would definitely go back for a third time - be really interested to know what you guys new to LV thought and if you are still impressed Lucycat? x

Hello mzmum - so glad that you enjoyed LV again - I couldn't find you as as you said there were too many Brits there for you to stand out iykwim Smile
I came to the conclusion that LV was more popular with Brits becaise it's much cheaper than the other sites usually occupied by the Brits in the Dordogne - we also thought that there were more Brits generally in the area, maybe last year the 'credit crunch' got to people so they decided to stay in the Uk, then the weather was so bad last year that they've all ventured abroad again.

I have to say though that for our first week there were far more Dutch people there that Brits which was nice, we were there for the BBQ, the photos of which are on the website.

and yes dh and I did meet up with the Batteryhumans - lovely people, we shared a very civilised glass of wine outside their tent when we gatecrashed them on the way back to our tent Smile

as for next year.... we're heading further south I think. The Bergers are lovely people and LV is a very special site but having spent 3 weeks there this year we feel we've seen everything in the area (there were too many Bodenites for us Sad)

How was the weather for the 2nd half of your holiday? Our last week was cloudy! ( v warm though)

mzmum · 28/08/2010 22:57

Hi Lucycat, glad you had another good trip. We had that non descript cloudy weather for our first 4/5 days then it completely changed and for the rest of the time we had mostly sunshine and temps of up to 38 degrees!! Just a little rain here and there but mostly at night, perfect!

Think you're absolutely right on your theory about more Brits - I was just a bit shocked. I know people were leaving and rebooking for next year again so it's going to get more and more popular....

It's that dilemma though - do we try somewhere new and then think we've made a mistake as it doesn't match up to LV? Or keep going back till we're bored??!! To be honest we had an even better time this year as our two were so easy down on the beach by the lake - so I think we'll give it another go till we get bored. In fact we didn't get out that much this year as we were enjoying the campsite so much!

Wonder what the others thought.....

I am v Envy of your weather - our first week was amazingly hot as you can see on their website at the BBQ - but we then had terrible weather travelling home, pitched the overnight tent at Salbris in the rain and then it rained all night - watching the 15 August fireworks across the lake in the rain - yuk.
Then up at Calais it was grotty too, we drove though the customary torrential deluge in the Baie de Somme and then it was drizzle. I hate putting and taking down tents in the rain!

I think that the cloud (and subsequent autumnal weather in the UK) has made us think about the Ardeche next year and possible down to Orange, Nimes etc. We also want a more challenging river experience Grin

We had a lovely time and it was wonderful to meet the Lucycats. The weather did improve in our second week and the cloudy days meant we got and explored more than we would have if it was baking hot. We loved canoeing on the Vezere and wandering around the little villages and ate and drank extremely well. Would like to return but can't think that far ahead. DS3 has been planning to meet some of his chums there again so the pressure is on.
