MisSalLaneous · 29/07/2010 23:40

Slubber, where are you going??

crash away

Brecon Beacons.

Never been there but is half way between my cousin and her family (who we are camping with) and us.

Her dh suggested it. It's all above board, the national park has a wild camping area.

It says there is a stream. Can we just boil the water for a few mins or do I need to take the milton?

Sounds lovely, are you taking cars, if so would take bottled water. Not sure about river water but think there might be poisonous nitrates washed in by the rain, from the land that has fertilizer on...or summat like that. To make up for it, you can wash in the river

Yes we are driving.

My cousin's dh said 'last time we went we walked for 1.5 miles carrying our stuff before we pitched' so would rather not lug about lots of water.

Will check with him what to do. I neeeeeeeeeed my morning cup of tea.

Oh Slubber, that sounds wonderful!

Slubberdegullion · 30/07/2010 17:30

Doesn't it!

I haven't wild camped for 10 years and have never done it in this country before.

Off proper camping (with flushing loos) on the w/e for 2 weeks, and then wild camping the w/e after.

Fantastic, have a great time! I've got no more holidays until the end of the year, and feel ever so slightly sorry for myself with everyone swanning off on their summer holidays now!

Slubberdegullion · 30/07/2010 18:58

Oh that's a bummer Sal. There's always weekends though.

Looking out the window at the weather right now I'm unsure if we are going to last 2 weeks of this in North wales.

Cold and wet does not a happy camper make.

I am going to the Brecon Beacons in two weeks for the Green Man
it won't be wild .. or not in a facilities sense I hope
am really hoping it doesn't rain ALL the time

MisSalLaneous · 30/07/2010 19:05

Will keep everything crossed for you to avoid a repeat of the 40 days and 40 nights! Take extra wine and hot water bottles in case.

Slubberdegullion · 30/07/2010 19:06

ninah gosh I hope that it remains dry for you too.

Festival mud looks not a lot of fun.

Hot water bottles ALWAYS go Sal, they are in with the 1st Aid kit and the extra guys.

Why don't I camp more in April, May and September when the weather is generally less shitola?
