Cardiff Caravan Park

Has anyone ever stayed at Cardiff Caravan Park? We go to Cardiff fairly often for the rugby etc and usually stay in hotels. But it is getting harder to find cheap hotels which sleep 5 in a room.

I'm a bit concerned though about a campsite right in the city centre. The reviews on UK campsite are good, but I get the feeling that they are by groups of people visiting for concerts or sports events rather than families.

So has anyone stayed there?

Although close to the city centre it is not IN the city centre.
It looks to me like it is in Sophia Gardens which is where the cricket grounds are , so should be quiet but a nice walk into teh centre long the river taff

It is down near Sophia Gardens, I remember seeing it when the Eisteddfod was in Cardiff.

That is still city centre to me!

Its very close but not in the shopping centre or where the bars are.

this map might help.
The city centre itself is other side of the river

I know, but there are still people, and very few sheep...

I suppose it is just the concept of a campsite in a city which seems strange. I'm hoping that it is actually really nice as that would make for fantastically cheap trips to Cardiff.

there's a caravan park in sophia gardens? how bizarre is that? Like having one in Regents Park or on Primrose hill.

SixtyFootDoll · 28/07/2010 08:19

In london I am sure ther is a site in Greenwich park?

domesticsluttery · 28/07/2010 11:43

Ooh Tredegar house looks nice, especially as the next trip we want to do to Cardiff is for DS1's birthday, he wants to see a Cardiff Blues match and go to the Roman museum at Caerleon. This would be nicely in the middle of the two.

The only thing is its a Caravan Club site, do you have to be a CC member to stay there?
