Packing help!!

OK, I am panicking - foolishly, but panicking all the same.

We are going away for 3 weeks. Site is very basic - just shower and toilet, which we are fine with. So no electric, no shop, etc etc.

Am aiming to try and get enough clothes into one case for the 3 of us to last us at least 2 weeks. the third week we are at friends in their garden so will have WM access easily then! DS recently toilet trained and excellent with it, but want to make sure I have enough spares - as will be sods law if I don't!

Any clothes packing tips? Don't tell me to take less please, I will not! But am crap at packing so ideas appreciated, as have it all out on the beds and looks bad!! And don't have towels out yet - eeekkkkk!!!

Washing line, pegs and a bucket? My DSs don't have 2 weeks worth of tshirts so that is what I pack

maxybrown · 25/07/2010 11:36

OK have those things! DS does have that many t shirts we don't however! But really want packing advice as i am really useless at it. My Dad's packing on the other hand......

Ok,sorry! Roll, don't fold, stuff socks inside shoes, lots of teeshirts and pants, but only 2 jumpers each. Wear cropped trousers rather than jeans cos the bottoms don't get wet in dewy/rainy grass. Do not take anything smart cos you won't wear it. prepare to be grubby!

maxybrown · 25/07/2010 12:00

Have camped a lot, so not worried about being "grubby" just never this long in one go! have the cropped trouser thing/shorts so that's ok. I don't own 2 jumpers so that's ok nor do we own anything smart, so that's ok too we do however sweat a lot and i mean we all get very very hot) so never ever get long out of our clothes. I am going to practice rolling - does this def take less space though? As for example, a pair of trousers rolled will be bulky - flat they are not? itms? Never tried it so not sure. Going to get the case out now and try before I iron everything!

Good god! don't iron stuff for camping.

my hard learned tip for camping packing is,put everything out you think you need, then get rid of half, then get rid of another half.

Think of the clothes you've worn over the last 7 days, and just put them in?

maxybrown · 25/07/2010 12:31

I will iron I'm afraid - I will have to! doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I need to iron it first. OK so if I had a weeks worth of clothes - what about the second week? We will hardly ever be on the camp site, so not prepared to be there scrubbing all week in prep for the following week - And it will be me doing it - then how do you dry it if the weather is crap? So nah, just want packing tips!!But socks in shoes, had never thought of that........duh!

oh, sorry maxy, yes you did say packing tips;must read more carefully.

Have you thought of not using a case? -- they take up a lot of room in themselves;I use soft bags, even basic carrier bags for packing ,and to separate clothes.and you can squish them into tiny corners of car boot.

maxybrown · 25/07/2010 21:00

yes have considered that - would never normally take a case camping I have to say! BUT my sister gave me some very useful tips and think I can get it all in now - wasn't so worried about the car fitting in but getting all the clothes in the case!
