The first thing is not to pitch in an downpour unless it does not ease up. Easier said than done, I know, but also try not to get stressed about it.

Also, you don't have to unpack completely for the first night if it's still raining a lot. Only unpack what is essential and wait to see what weather the next day will bring. The weather is the reason that we now camp abroad. We don't find it any more expensive as you can get Channel crossings very cheaply nowadays, especially if you don't have a trailer.

Just put your waterproofs on and go for it, try to leave as much stuff in the car asyou can [including the kids]. We pile stuff on the front seats if we need to get at the tent [usually on the bottom]. We are lucky though cos we have a fly sheet first tent which makes it easier to pitch in the rain. What do you have?
Good luck you never know you might dodge the showers.

will have blown over by then, i think Cornwall is not as affected by it today as Devon which is where I am . have a great time!

Do it as quickly as possible!!
The biggest tip is to have all your kit put away properly last time so you know excatly where everything is.
If two of you are putting the tent up know before hand who is doing what so you can be swift with it.
