hi all,
been looking for a tent for a wee while, didnt want to rush in and buy one and then regret it.
i think we have settled on this one, its £149.99 on ebay, which seems like a good buy.

any views on it good or bad??? its for 2 adults and 3 kids.
thankyou x

I've been doing loads of research on tents recently. Have heard good stuff about that tent. I have been checking out the ukcampsite website. They have tent reviews on there. There are quite a few people on there who have the Outwell Montana for long trips (it's huge but so is the pack size) and the Icarus for weekends. The review for the Icarus is here here.

We are only 2 adults and 2 small kids but I think we have settled on the Artemis 600. I think the living area is bigger than the Icarus but I may be wrong. Just thinking of when it's raining and the kids are fighting.

We've just got one, but it is still sitting rolled up in our dining room! We're hoping to have a trial run soon. DP did a lot of research and he seems happy with his choice. I'm not looking forward to wrangling it up though!

Forgot to mention if you haven't worked it out yet there is a 600 and a 600 DLX (deluxe) I think I read that it has about 1m extra length in the living area, but then my head is swimming with tent info, so I might be wrong.
Think Ukcampsite has reviews for both.

thanks all,
the dlx looks good, but its £219.99!
looks better but couldnt justify that much.

ok so reviews look good, think we will go for it!

We've just bought our first family tent. I was put off by the Icarus as the room partition doesn't zip across. It just hooks at the top and bottom and I thought our kids would just pull it to get through and rip it off.

We have the icarus5 we have found it a great tent withstood all the weather that camping can throw at you. Erects easily, Fab

We bought the Icarus 600 for 2 adults and 3 kids (6, 3 and 9 months).
We have used it for 1 weekend so far and loved it. Off again next weekend.
I liked the hook-across room divider - we put 1 child on one side, then our double mattress, travel cot and then other child. We put the divide across when the kids went to sleep so they couldn't see each other and then lifted it when we went to bed - one less zip to risk waking them with.

Space-wise - there was loads! We did buy the canopy too, which you could add later if you felt you needed it, but even just inside the actual tent there was plenty of room for us, chairs, kids playing etc etc.

It was sooooo easy to put up. About 10 mins first time.

I'm very happy to recommend it so far!

I've got this too and it's great. Very easy to put up and plenty of room. I've got the canopy too, which is excellent for getting a bit more room. We're off in it tomorrow for 3 days and I can't wait!

thanks all x

With much practised precision packing! The poor kids have stuff all around them in the back seat and their footwells.

sazm · 25/07/2010 09:55

haha, theres 5 of us,so all seats are full lol, and we are also taking the dog ( a lab) so will need to leave a bit of space for him!
the boot is pretty big (vectra) but we need the buggy and dog in there as well as the tent/airbeds/sleeping bags/food/clothes!!
hmm its gonna be a VERY tight squeeze!!
