Hi all,

Looking for lunch inspiration for work please! Low calorie options for someone who is trying to cut down on bread!!

I’m thinking salads but I’ve only ever really made the basic side salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber) so would love to liven these up and add some dressings etc but no idea which ones are lower calorie?? I have lunch 12-1 ish and something that can keep me away from snacking in the biscuit tin until dinner at 5 would be amazing!!

Thanks for any tips!!

My current go to is a plate of mixed salad leaves, cherry tomatoes and cucumber, and then topped with either low fat cottage cheese mixed with tuna and Cajun spice, or cottage cheese and ham. I have a lower calorie lunch because I know whatever I eat I'll be reaching for a snack when I get home before tea is ready, so I plan in a 100cal snack at that time. Sometimes you've just got to work with your body and saying "no snacks" doesn't work for everyone.

Look up tabbouleh and quinoa recepies, they are more filling.

I make lentil and beetroot salad. Just boil green lentils in boullion, add chopped packaged beetroot and chopped spring onions. Add lemon juice and olive oil to taste. It's good with feta, smoked salmon, ham hock and then some bagged salad leaves.
I also discovered napolina tinned bean salad. I rinse it first, then add chopped peppers, spring onions, lemon and a bit of olive oil. And some parsley or basil if you have it. That's nice with salmon, tuna, feta etc.

I make a lentil and veg soup and freeze and freeze individual portions. I have it with a low calorie bagel.

Don't stress over salad dressings. Unless you use half a bottle at a time, LOL. Pick one you like.
Protein helps you feel full. I used to use eggs, or tuna.
Im retired but when I worked, my salads were famous! I basically had a big list of salady things I like, and combined as many as I could to make it look interesting. My staples included leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, grated carrot with raisins and sesame seeds, egg/tuna/cooked meat/salmon trimmings, avocado, pomegranate seeds, mange tout, mozzarella (can't do without cheese!).
It's got to be things YOU enjoy. You might like sweetcorn fir example, I'm just not a fan.
For snacks, I would just make a hot drink ( no sugar, so minimal calories), or if desperate, I had snack bags of nuts and raisins that I had measured out.
