Half a stone by Christmas

Lonestar1988 · 23/10/2023 11:47

Hello,

Starting a thread for accountability.

I had a baby 2 months ago and would like to loose half a stone by xmas (I need to shift much more but I'm trying to be realistic).

Current weight: 13 stone 7
Goal weight: 10 stone 7
Mini goal weight by xmas: 13 stone.

Im off away so my next weigh in won't be until the end of next week. I'm hoping I can try and make better choices and see a pound or 2 loss on my return.

Feel free to join me 😊 we can help keep each other motivated, share tips and encouragement.

Yes, I will join! Starting CC again today with My Fitness Pal. I have a total of 5 stone to lose but I'd be happy with half a stone to a stone off before Xmas.

Hi @TallulahBetty thanks for joining. Im going to track calories on n my fitness pal too. Amy downfall atm is snacking on the evenings and wine. Going to swap to gin or vodka with diet coke/tonic. What day are you going to weigh?
We can do this and by xmas we will have given ourselves a bit of a boost.

I will join. Mine is not baby weight but menopause and stress. Half a stone would be a fab start. I will use my fitness pal.
Starting weight 12 stone 10.5
Goal weight 10 stone
Christmas 12 stone

I will also join. I'm currently 11st 10, would like to be 10st 7, so half off my Christmas would be a nice chunk off 👍🏻

I’ll join! Weighed myself this morning and I am 13’3, which is the most I’ve weighed for a while!
I use nutracheck and had chosen the lower sugar set up. I definitely need to kick the chocolate and wine habit!!

I think I will weigh Tuesday evenings as that is my definite day for the gym. My problem is grazing as I'm WFH. Hopefully being accountable again to the app and you guys will help!

I’m weighing daily at the moment (because it can vary day to day and I want to try and figure out an “average” as it fluctuates and so to not too freaked out if I don’t lose) then I’ll go back to weekly.
I think my calories are a bit low through Nutracheck, to lose I’ve always done about 1700 as I’m fairly active but they’ve given me 1500…it feels a bit miserable!

It's great to see us all in together. I'm really struggling being away, i keep snacking on biscuits so i'm going ti have to get rid of them because my willpower is rubbish.

Trying to stick to 1600 calories. Has anyone got an apple watch? Mine says I burn around 2400/2500 calories a day when I reach around 10 000 steps. I'm wondering if it over estimates the calories burned?

@Lonestar1988 thanks for starting the thread. Biscuits in my office are my nemesis too…!
I don’t have Apple Watch but I wonder if it’s including your TDEE in that? There are calculators online.
But I have heard watches/apps over-estimate so I tend to take it with a pinch of salt! And unless it’s super high intensity exercise which I need a bit of extra fuel for, I don’t eat my calories back anymore and try to think of exercise as benefitting my mind and general health rather than helping the weight loss (even though of course it does contribute!)

I'm afraid all fitness trackers are way off with their estimated calorie burn. Best thing to do is ignore that number altogether. Use it to track your steps though - 10k is a good minimum number

I thought they must be well off because otherwise I should be loosing the weight much quicker.

So far i'm finding doing the steps manageable but it's just the snacking and weighing out the food.

How is everyone getting on so far? As well as calorie counting do you limit any food groups such as carbs or have any fasting periods?

Soooo I got to the gym last night, people were queuing for the scales - nae bother I thought, will do treadmill and stairmaster and then weigh on my way out.

Did I remember? Dear reader, I did not. So I don't know an official starting weight. Annoying. Never mind - will try again tonight.

Have tracked every calorie today so far, I have 892 left over for tea/hot drinks so that has encouraged me.

I'm allowing myself 1800 this time as last time I only allowed 1500 and I was miserable.

Easily done @TallulahBetty I’m on 1500 and I can confirm that it is a bit miserable. I naturally skip breakfast anyway so that is easier but on the weekend I am going to 1800.

the Low sugar is killing me but 100% needs to happen. Halloween chocolates look so appetising too 🙈

Sounds like you are all off to a good start. I only have 359 calories left for the day but i'm quite full so hoping I can fit in a light tea for around that many calories.

@FSGirl that's a good tip to allow extra calories for the weekend. I might do that in the hope that it will keep me from falling off track.

@Lonestar1988 on Nutracheck you can set it up so your calories through the week are spread out differently, so lower during the week and higher on the weekend (for treats ☺️) I used to use my fitness pal but not sure if they have the same feature!

My great idea to weigh each day was derailed by a crazy end to week/start of weekend. I feel better already though, does that count?!
Amazing job on the 4lb loss @NorthDevonBeachLover !! You’re over half way!!

You have 8 weeks until Christmas, which means you could probably lose a stone comfortably. 2 lbs per week is realistic.

I did 3 stone at 2lbs per week some years ago and am terrible with denial, so my approach was that I didn't try, just moderated. If I wanted a big breakfast, I didn't have a big dinner or vice versa.

I also walked. 6 miles extra 3 times per week as fast as I could to keep heart rate up.

And only drinking at weekends.

I have a dog you can borrow if you want a walking buddy?

Good luck, but you'll be fine 👍
