Kids want to treat me to a take away tonight and I want to enjoy it with them, have avoided for ages snd am now nearly at goal weight. What are the least bad Chinese or Indian take away options?

Nothing is 'bad' and it's not healthy to demonise foods or ascribe moral values to food. Order what you fancy and share or just eat a smaller portion. Or just say sod it and eat what and how much you want because one Chinese takeaway is not going to ruin your diet. Enjoy it.

It's all about balance, a treat once is a while is not cheating.

That said, if I had to pick the healthiest take out, I'd go with Turkish and get some meat, salad and rice. After that if probably go for Thai.

Agree with above poster but Indian it would be the tomato based veggie dishes and Chinese maybe vegetable chow mein or an onmlette. You can never really tell the calories unless its a chain so you go for a couple of slices of Dominoes thin pizza.
Subway salad is probably the best.

I'd say Vietnamese

Maybe Tandoori out of Indian, not sure about Chinese if it is all fried?

From Chinese or Indian (which tend to be the most accessible takeaways) I’d say something like tandoori chicken / fish with salad. Enjoy!

Lindy2 · 19/03/2023 10:33

Tandoori chicken is oven cooked chicken and usually comes with salad. When I'm trying to loose weight that's my usual Indian option. It's very tasty.

For Chinese I go for something like prawns with ginger and spring onions and a small portion of rice. I've no idea of the calories but prawns and veg can't be too bad.

Indian: tandoori prawns or tandoori chicken, chicken tikka with plain rice
Thai: Tom yum or Tom kai soup, salad, chicken satay skewers, steamed fish and jasmine rice
Chinese: steamed dim sum, beef with black bean sauce and plain rice
Italian: tomato and mozzarella salad, spaghetti vongole

The least bad take away is the one you enjoy without being concerned about it's impact on your weight loss.

You are almost there, it's ok to have a night off and have the take away you want, not the one you think you should have.
