Help, or a hand hold - something...

I know I've been gaining weight over the last year, I'm not stupid.

I knew that clothes that fitted me last year now don't fit, I knew that I couldn't run 5k any more, I knew I was eating way more than I should be. Refused to weigh myself as I was afraid of the answer and just didn't want to face it.

But for some reason I just swept it aside and pretended it wasn't happening. Until now. I'm waking in the night with terrible heartburn and acid reflux - googled it and read that it can be made worse by being overweight.

So I weighed myself. I AM 14 STONE 2LB 😭😭 I've never weighed that much before in my life, I'm 5'6 and a full 3 stone overweight. 18 months ago I weighed 10st 9 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

How has it come to this 😥😥 please give me some encouragement, a hand hold or something - it's 2am and I'm in tears, and can't sleep because of the hideous burning in my throat from acid reflux 😟

Hey... sorry this is a bit late but I hope you're feeling a bit better about things now, do you have a plan to make some changes?

My weight gradually crept up and up after I moved in with my ex partner and I put on over a stone and a half. Strangely enough splitting up with him led to the stone and a half going but I wouldn't recommend that as a diet plan!

I made a change at new year and started properly calorie counting and made sure I picked up more exercise, that's just been getting out for a walk most days but it made a big difference.

I have to weigh myself everyday, I know that doesn't suit everyone but it's the only way I can keep on top of things. When I don't weigh myself regularly, that's when it creeps up and up...

Take a deep breath and forget the past. Today is a new day.

I was like you- same height and roughly same old weight. I put on about three stone over several months when my DM was very ill- stress binge eating/no exercise etc. I also have a history of binge eating which makes everything harder and dieting often makes it worse.

What worked for me was intermittent fasting. Only black coffee in the morning then eating healthily throughout the day and stopping eating again by around 8.30pm approx. I loosely calorie counted on MFP. I also drank a ton of water and ate lots of veggies.

I also tried to do 10k steps a day and some short workouts with weights 3 times a week.
