Alternative to calorie MFP?

I’ve heard rumours that MFP are going to start charging for access to the barcode scanner.
Are there any free alternatives?

The last update causing endless popup ads was annoying even before the barcode scanner news. I switched over to Mynetdiary this week. So far I'm still getting used to it but it's not bad. Some of the ways you can log are a bit clunky, and non-premium members can only see 3 months of weight chart so you may want to keep mfp just for that. But aside from that it's quite good and has a reasonable database of uk foods.

I just took a look at another one, LoseIt! It looks pretty good, possibly better than Mynetdiary. You have to go through a few questions when you register and I can't see a way to completely customise your own calorie count, but UK database looks reasonable and logging is fast and uncomplicated.

I have been using MFP for a few years and it didn’t even register with me that there was a scanner! What I never used I won’t miss I suppose lol

Chronometer is good.

I settled with Loseit! in the end. It's working out well.

Nutracheck is a really good app and it's free.
