How many calories would I need to do this please!? I'd love to lose a stone and possibly a bit more! I'm 5'6" 43 years old and 11stone 8 😰 Help! Calorie counting will work for me if I stick to it and know how much but I am getting in a muddle with calculators online! I will do 30 mins on the cross trainer 3x a week and try to do 10,000 steps

Not sure calorie wise but I lost a stone in 9 weeks LCHF way of eating. I'm 5.6 and was 12.8.

@carrottopper work out your dtee, this is bmi with age. It will tell you the number of calories to maintain. You need a deficit of 500 calories a day to lose 1lb a week.

Thanks. I think this is 1400 calories then. How do I adjust fitness tracker so it doesn't include my exercise? I'm presuming I shouldn't include those calories earned by exercise?

Ugh. I desperately want to lost about a stone. My bmi with age says I'm fine but II feel bloody awful, with a really fat and yucky tummy. I run, try to eat well and have a fairly active life but cannot shift it. I'm in my late 5o's so I guess it's after effects of Menopause??

Well I've just put in my breakfast, lunch and what I will have for dinner and it's already over by 100cals

@carrottopper not counting exercise your dtee is 1680. Eat 1200 and you will lose weight. Don't count exercise, focus on calories.

carrottopper · 29/05/2022 13:03

@KateLumley 1200 calories! That's low

I got just over 1900 on the tdee so thought it was 1400

My OH has been doing The Diet Whisperer and has lost 8kg (circa 17lbs) in 8 weeks. Took a little bit of getting used to and it does require following the rules, but it’s definitely working for him.

Don’t count your exercise in the calories that the machine or fit bit tells you, put it into the TDEE calculator. Then take off 500 calories.

at moderate exercise your calories are 2200, so you can eat between that and 1700 a day
