Or have things got to bad and I need a gastric sleeve or band .
It feels such a mountain to climb
I worked out the weight I want to be ..12 stone
And worked out a 12 stone woman needs 1700 calories to maintain her weight .
So if I eat 1700 calories I will eventually get to 12 stone ?..

I'm going for a 10stone loss through CC- I'm only at the beginning of the journey but I'm taking it slow and finding it much better than WW or SW etc. I follow Mellymaysweightloss on Instagram and TikTok. She's lost 150lb this way (slow and steady), and she's brilliant.

I’ve lost 8 stone previously, but have put 4 back on. Trying again to lose it through calorie counting, I keep falling off😬

Losing the weight before won't have wrecked your metabolism. That is actually very difficult to do and a significantly faster or slower metabolism than average will have significant side effects that you would notice.

If you do a TDEE and BMR calculator then that will be your maintenance calories at various weights to within around +/- 100 calories. The 100ish calorie variation will be genetics, health conditions etc but it will be close.

The reason you put the weight back on was you went back to eating at a calorie amount that would have maintained a much higher weight. Unfortunately if you want to be 12st and maintenance for 12st is 1700 cals then you have to eat that way forever.

It is very very hard though. I have been on a similar journey to you and it is ROUGH. CICO is simple but it is far from easy. Especially in the hyper processed food environment we live in. I would describe our society as obesogenic and keeping to a healthy weight in such a society is very difficult if you don't have a naturally small appetite.
