Slimfast ick

Ugh, I just bought a couple of weeks' supply of Slimfast shakes and they are vile. I'm obviously an idiot because I KNEW they were milkshakes but didn't quite expect them to taste like pure sugar. They are sweeter that those Frijj things which I haven't tried for years, but still remember the cloyingness of them. I can't even if a bottle full of Slimfast because my teeth feel gross and sticky. I'd be better off drinking something I like and taking supplements.

I'm only on Day 2, but ready to put them up for free collection on FB.

Are any other meal placements as easy, but not so disgusting?

Huel is meant to be less sweet and actually has savoury options

applepineapple · 03/08/2021 18:55

I rate Purition, marketed as a protein shake but can be a meal replacement too. Lots of fab flavours.

Nat6999 · 03/08/2021 19:04

The vanilla one isn't too bad especially if you whizz it in the blender with lots of Ice,tastes very much like a KFC Krushem.

Orangesandlemons77 · 03/08/2021 19:04

The Vitality range is better I think. Purition is good.

PumpkinKlNG · 03/08/2021 19:06

I like them Blush

tedsletterofthelaw · 03/08/2021 19:09

I use Nutribuddy which I really like. I have them with unsweetened almond milk which takes away some of the sweetness too.

Key workers get 50% off too if that applies to you?

BitterTits · 03/08/2021 22:25

I bought the powder version and thought it would be as easy to prepare as Nesquik. God it's gross. I'm calorie counting instead.

KingofQueens · 04/08/2021 00:51

Thank you everyone, I will investigate other options. I thought this would be a no-brainer, minimal effort answer, but I can't go for much longer with these.

I like the banana or chunky chocolate (but I do have a sweet tooth). Anyway, I’ve lost 1st in 5 weeks and only need another 5lbs to reach target but am within my healthy bmi.

I only use them on work days and at weekends I calorie count but have eggs etc for lunches as I have more time.

AdaFuckingShelby · 05/08/2021 21:21

Huel has an original and an unsweetened flavour. Far superior nutrition .

NutellaEllaElla · 05/08/2021 21:23

Why are you using meal replacement shakes at all tbh

Marcipex · 05/08/2021 21:26

I agree that they are vile. So snotty.

I’ve never heard of Huel but it autocorrects to hurl 😄

NeverDropYourMooncup · 05/08/2021 21:28

If you chill them really well, you can chug one down for breakfast without too much yuk factor, especially if you follow it up with some nice, bitter, black coffee.

The Huel ones have far more calories, they're much bigger and they really don't taste any less sweet, just more 'floury' as well as sweet.

They're the least worst ones I've had really - apart from one type of protein shake, which wasn't designed to be a meal replacement, so didn't fulfil the purpose I needed it for.

If somebody can come up with something that doesn't taste overwhelmingly of sugar and comes as ready to drink though, I'd be interested.

I quite like slim and save. Milkshake are OK, but they have bars, meals and soups which are nice.
