I’ve worked out that my bmr is 1550, I do on average, 10,000 steps a day and my maintenance is 2194 (low exercise). I’ve been having between 1300-1500 a day for the last 6 weeks I’ve lost 14lbs but now the weight loss has stalled! I’m thinking of upping my calorie intake to 1600-1700 do you think this is ok?

How did you work it out?
Weight loss would be 15-20% less than maintenance calories.

Is it the same amount of calories that you get it to? Are you weighing and logging what you eat? If you aren’t losing at 1,300-1,500 then I can only assume your calorie count is out tbh. Are you eating your exercise calories back? That’s the only time I didn’t lose, logging my exercise cals on MFP actually made me gain weight.

I log everything and I don’t use eat back my exercise cals. I used the tdee calculator and also calculator.net to compare the 2. I never add any exercise as I know how inaccurate it can be. I just use mfp to keep a log on my food intake.

To be honest it could be totm and I have a cold so no doubt this is impacting it too. I’ve had 1600 cals today and I feel satisfied. The last few days trying to keep under 1400 I’ve felt hungrier especially in the evenings.

When you log are you assuming the cals already in MFP to quickly tick and log are accurate? It could be worth checking. I was happily ticking the box and logging something that said it was 80 cals, sometimes I even had 2 of them Blush
One day I decided to check - turns out it had been saved to the food list incorrectly by someone and it was actually 280 cals!

14lbs in 6 weeks is really good!

I have taken a slow and steady approach, and the overall downward trend is littered with little upward mini spikes.

When you are looking at a pound or two on the scales a lot can make a difference: water retention due to hormones or salty food, whether or not you are due a poo.

Quite right Raining I didn’t register the loss just the “now the weight loss has stalled!”
OP that is a great loss, well done! it won’t carry on at that rate and slow & steady means it is more likely to be sustainable.
