Weekday saint, weekend sinner diet?

Hi all, I'm on MFP in the week, 1200 calories a day, I only cook for myself in the week. I cycle every week day for about 25 mins and run maybe 1x a week, 2x if I can manage it (which is rare) I'm in a dry January. I have excess calories every day due to the exercise.

Weekends are different, it is all family meals though I don't splurge - am I ok to have quite a strict diet in the week and use those excess calories at the weekend?

It's all about calories in/calories out. As long as you're using more than you're eating over the week, you'll lose weight. Not as much as you'd lose if you stuck to 1200 at weekends too but this way might suit you better. Swings and roundabouts :) I know I need the odd day of indulgence to keep me sane.

I really struggle with control at the weekends, I can manage perfect during the week, without too much feeling of deprivation really, but weekends feel different.

And honestly, it helps me waste a couple of years or so messing about at a weight I don't want to be! It certainly doesn't help me lose weight!

I try and stick to 1200 at w/e. I tell myself I can go up to 1350 if desperate but never have free will or I would eat a ton

managedmis · 20/01/2020 12:34

You have to say more about the family meals - if you're massively overeating at these then of course you'll never lose weight

It depends on what your goal is? Weight Loss/Maintenance
And how much calories you eat at the weekend.

Same!
Eat healthily all week and then go crazy at weekends. Works for me.

I have just started using Nutra-check and it has the option to have easier days. I have set it so that I can have around 1800 calories on Fri and Sat and 1200 the other five days. Would that work for you? Otherwise I was on about 1340 a day 7 days a week, but I felt the need for treats to look forward to! I can't tell you if it works yet as I have only done a couple of weeks, don't see why it shouldn't though?

Oops just noticed this thread was from ages ago, sorry. Anyway, if you see this @morrisseysquif let me know if it worked!
