wedding diet panic!

I am getting marred in 9 weeks and want to lose about half a stone - ten pounds before then. I am already in the gym five times a week (doing hiit/resistance training in small group PT sessions) but really need to get serious about my diet. I generally eat healthily, but socialize a lot, which leads to too many restaurant meals and too much white wine!

I have a meal out tonight with girlfriends and a friend's wedding to go to tomorrow, but from Monday I have cleared my diary for two weeks and am going to knuckle down! My first dress fitting is on October 8th so I think this is a good first goal to aim towards.

I heard some advice the other day about taking the choice out of meal planning and how this can prevent you from deviating from a diet plan, so I am planning to eat slight variations on the same three meals for the whole two weeks as follows:

Breakfast - berries and yoghurt
Lunch - grilled chicken breast and salad
Dinner - some variation on eggs - either a veggie omelette, poached eggs on one piece toast with avocado butter or scrambled eggs with veggies and one piece toast
Snack - banana

SURELY this will get me some results....I have been trying so hard in the gym and have got really disheartened feeling like I've basically been running on the same spot for months now. It's got to be my diet that's preventing me from losing weight.

Posting here just for support, and to keep myself accountable!

I'm not sure of my current weight as weighing myself and seeing no results was making me so disheartened I haven't done it in a while, but I'm guessing about 10 stone 10 - 10 stone 12. I will bite the bullet and weigh myself on Monday morning so I can record progress.

Any tips for staying motivated/on track, or just general tips very welcome!

My brother is a personal trainer and he said losing weight is 70-80% diet, if you really watch what you eat and stick to high protein and lots of veg the weight will come off.

Thanks for your response - I think to be honest I've probably not been being very honest with myself about what I've been eating/drinking, and this is why I'm not seeing any results. I certainly wasn't very well behaved over the weekend!

Oops posted too soon! I was going to say that despite that, today is officially DAY ONE and I am on-plan so far. Breakfast = 150g blueberries and 100g greek yoghurt, lunch = grilled chicken salad at 450 calories, snack = banana and dinner will be eggs!

It's probably easier to cut alcohol out completely. A waste of calories

Ellieboolou27 · 24/09/2018 20:30

Sounds good op, good luck, have a fantastic wedding day, keep thinking of the day to keep you motivated

killingtime9198 · 25/09/2018 15:08

Well I've been forced off plan already as my department chair is over from the states and took my boss and I out for lunch but had a piece of roast hake so I don't think that can have been too bad.

So day 1: all on plan

Day 2: breakfast - blueberries and yoghurt, lunch - roast hake (and one glass of wine oops) and it will be eggs for dinner.

Oh, and I weighed myself on Saturday morning and was bang on 11 stone. Not sure when to next weigh myself....Saturday morning again maybe?

If you honestly want to lose the weight you need to stop drinking any alcohol at all, its empty calories and totally pointless. I would also recommend downloading MyFitnessPal app, it's free and helps you truly track your calorie intake. I also wouldn't recommend having the same 3 meals you will die of boredom if you eat chicken, eggs and blueberries for the next 9weeks!

Although on a side note, I will never understand the need women have for losing weight before your wedding day. On my wedding day I wanted to look like me, not like a skinny hungry version of myself, and nobody expected my husband to be to lose weight Hmm but that's neither here nor there.

killingtime9198 · 26/09/2018 09:21

Morning! Thanks for your responses. I totally take the point about alcohol, but I'm just not sure I'm prepared to give it up entirely with so many nice social plans in the run up to the wedding! That's why I think it might be more realistic to be super strict with meals, while trying to limit alcohol as much as possible.

I'm not planning to eat the same three meals for the next nine weeks, just until my first dress fitting (on 8th October), and there are a few times I won't be able to stick to this, I just think it minimizes the chances of me making bad choices. After those two weeks I'll see how I'm getting on and maybe change things up a bit.

Great shout re my fitness pal - I haven't used it in a while but will get back on it.

Oh, and on the wedding point - I agree that it's silly it's mostly women who feel the pressure to lose weight for their wedding, but I'm not trying to get to the thinnest I've ever been or walk down the aisle a bag of bones, I just want to get back to the weight I was when I met my partner....which is about half a stone lighter than I am now. And to his credit he is out running most days too!

I did give in to temptation and weigh myself this morning and I'm down to 10 stone 12 and 3/4, though I don't hugely trust it as my scales are very variable. I suppose I should also mention I'm 5'8.

Anyway, thanks for reading if you got this far! I'm finding posting is useful to keep myself accountable.

Just read your thread OP, how was the dress fitting and how are you getting on? 😊

Breakfast - berries and yoghurt
Lunch - grilled chicken breast and salad
Dinner - some variation on eggs - either a veggie omelette, poached eggs on one piece toast with avocado butter or scrambled eggs with veggies and one piece toast
Snack - banana

^^

Good, but instead of toast have another egg and more veg.
Make sure yog is ff Greek or Skyr.
Keep alcohol to a minimum.
Loadsa water.

Try and stick to 1400 cals per day, 1200 if you can. Sounds like you're doing really well!
