Every do often I eat all day, I can’t stop myself. Why would I do that?

Today I have eaten the following:
Bagel & Dairy free spread
Large flapjack
Lentil soup & croutons (whole packet)
Vegetable stir fry
Whole packet of fruit shortcake biscuits
Small packet of Bombay mix
Vegan cheese & pickle roll

In the plus side I have had 2litres of water and only 1 coffee & 1 peppermint tea

Has anyone else eaten this much food today?

I have days like this where I eat mindlessly and nothing seems to fill me. It's so frustrating! Is there a pattern to yours? I know some women have days like this leading up to their period as hormones come into play.

AppleAndBlackberry · 04/03/2018 09:22

It doesn't seem that bad to me except for the whole pack of biscuits. I try not to keep stuff like that in the house because I know I'll eat it all. I think more protein and fat might help you feel fuller though. Are you vegan? There's a lot of flour-based food in that day, maybe you could switch your snacks to carrot sticks and houmous or olives or nuts?

I think buy in smaller portions
One off if you eat like that it's ok but try not too
Eat slowly and little but often
Yesterday I ate bad as it was my treat day but normally I eat well
Daily you can have a treat but still eat well
You need to eat a little of everything from all food groups and the correct amount within the nutritional guides eg you can have carbs like pasta say but within the RDA of carbs

Yes, this sometimes happens to me. It's not hormonal as I no longer have a monthly cycle - with me it's definitely emotional, related to anger or feeling unhappy - of course, if I then eat too much I feel more unhappy and more angry. I don't have advice on avoiding but once it's done the best thing is to draw a very thick line under it in your head and go back to healthy eating habits as if nothing had happened.

lizadiet · 04/03/2018 10:22

Sometimes when we are upset or angry or worried we comfort eat or don't eat at all
Our emotions control our food habits
Our life also dominates our food choices and behaviour relationship to food

For some people they can't diet or they can't get in to routine of doing this and that due to mental state of mind

It's call complicated

All the best

Apple and blackberry yes I am vegan and I do normally eat really well with lots of protein and less carbs. I just have the odd day like this and I think I may be lacking something to get duch cravings for a massive amount of food and it tends to be carbs that I have when I have days like this.
Yesterday I had the following:
Bagel & avocado
Apple
Banana & almond milk smoothie
Lentil soup and small pita bread
Handful of mixed nuts & raisins
Home made vegetable dhal
That is a usual day for me, I think that’s ok, I hope that’s ok anyway!!

I agree with apple - a lot of vegan food is carb-based and I suspect that's why you're not feeling full.

I'd go for things like pinto beans (trying binging on those, it's just impossible!).

Have more protein will fill you up
Porriage with vegan milk

happytobemrsg · 04/03/2018 15:34

I'm on MFP and I can be doing really well then have one day where it all goes to pot & I find it hard to get back into eating healthily. For me I think boredom plays a big part. That & the fact that DH & I ALWAYS snack when watching tv. I'm finding that really difficult to stop

lizadiet · 04/03/2018 17:53

Snacking is fine as long as the time is good ideally before 8pm
The food is good and the portion is good
Popcorn is a good snack
Jelly
Edame
Rice crackers
Protein cheese
Edame crisps

happytobemrsg · 04/03/2018 18:22

@lizadiet unfortunately it's usually crisps and after DS is in bed. I do love jelly though! I'll get some in.

Get Hartleys sugar free vegetarian

dantdmistedious · 04/03/2018 21:23

A couple of days a month I eat ALL THE FOOD. The rest of the time I'm fine but just before ovulation it's cravings and hunger for 48 hours.
