Please tell me about Fitbit

Hello all! I'm needing a quick lesson on the Fitbit if possible - due to give birth in a couple of months, as is one of my good pals, and we agreed to try and "get healthy" once the little arrivals make their debut.
Does anyone use a fitbit? Is it basically just a calorie / step counter? Would people recommend or is it hyped up and not that great? Also is it good to use when breastfeeding? I don't want to restrict calories to the point that my milk is affected!
Thanks for any responses :)

I love my Fitbit and would be lost without it now. Get the HR one so it accurately tracks how many calories you burn a day. It counts steps continuously but also recognises when you're doing something more strenuous (or sleeping!). I fell asleep on the sofa for an hour the other evening and was shocked to see it logged on the app! God knows how it worked that out.

Also it syncs with MFP and shares data between the two. I can't recommend it enough OP. Good luck.

PhuqIt - that does sound pretty impressive. I wonder whether it recognises sleep due to lowered heart rate? Pretty amazing either way :) Thanks!

Good to know your resting heart rate too

I have the charge HR, had it for about a year and love it. It records steps, exercise (you tell it to start and stop so for a workout it counts separately to your whole day count) and heart rate. It syncs to my phone which i love because I'm a data geek. The downside is that the band is starting to come away from the display and this cannot be fixed so it will have to be replaced. I will probably get the alta next. I started with the zip as a cheap way to test the technology to see if I liked it and I did but the battery life was pathetically low, known problem, so I upgraded. You can link to friends and compete and challenge which can be motivating.

Oh I have the Fitbit Alta hr n it's wonderful
It's my main motivation and I use it with mfp and I've friends who use it too and we do challenges
it has helped me sleep as well as I get less uptight about being awake and can think 6h that's fine I can function etc
Saying that I'm on an exercise streak so need to get my 30mins of outdoor bike 😊

I have a Fitbit flex 2 because it's perfect for swimming and I love it, have lost a stone since getting it
