1200 cals per day on MPF

I've tried a few things but decided that calorie counting & using MPF would be a good start. Eating just about 1200 per day & feeling great after a week. I've also reduced my sugar intake a lot.

Anyone sucssfully lost weight with this? After just a week I've lost the desire to stuff my face constantly so fingers crossed this works as a lifestyle change too.

Does anyone else not believe in the low fat mantra? I'm of the view that low fat just leaves you hungry or with some foods the fat is just replaced with sugar or artificial sweeteners. I love unsalted nuts, olives, avocado etc and just can't get my head round the whole idea that I have to limit them. Probably why I'm overweight haha!

I struggled with low carbs high fat for years. Calorie counting is the only thing that works. I've been doing 1300 cals for a month and have lost almost half a stone. I have low fat spread and eat low fat yogurts. I avoid sweeteners as I hate the taste, but low fat stuff has been really useful. I also buy calorie counted ready meals for emergencies - waitrose or m and s. It's not cheap but totally worth it.

MFP set me at 1750 cals a day. I am morbidly obese so could this be why? Or should I set it to lower? I'm aiming for 1.5lbs a week.

@lightcola at your weight you can afford to set it higher without impacting your losses. You can then reduce as you lose.

A couple of years ago I lost around 30lbs in 3 months using MFP, I'm back on it this week!

PatMustardsMoustache · 04/06/2017 14:11

Downloaded MFP last Monday, 1200 cals a day and so far I'm loving it.

I'm not hungry, I've lost 3" from my waist and 2 off my hips.

Started off at 12.12 and down to 12.8. Have seriously upped my activity levels from zero to aquafit, step class, body pump / balance and c25k.

I'm following SW principles but no mug shots or muller lights in sight. I've even had fish and chips 3 times this week as it's been half term but I've swapped half the chips for a salad...

buggerthebotox · 05/06/2017 13:16

I do MFP and love it. I'm set to 1200 calories, which I find relatively easy to stick to. I consciously exercise too, and although I don't usually eat back the extra ones, I know they're there if I get desperate and fancy a splurge.

I aim for a pound a week but as long as the general trajectory is down, I'm happy.

So easy to do.

BlondeB83 · 11/06/2017 09:17

I've lost 7lbs in 10 days with MFP so far, used it previously and was able to lose a lot. Just need to stick with it now! I try not to eat back exercise calories but I know they're there if I need them!

Tidythatmess · 14/06/2017 09:19

I have lost 14 pounds in the past 6 or so weeks using MFP at 1200 calories per day. I had set my goal to 2 lbs per week and it has actually worked. Nothing else has worked for me, especially not the avocado/peanut butter type diets that everyone seems to love on Facebook etc.

I do find it restrictive though as I have quite a big appetite but it has really made me think about how much I was overeating before, usually about 2000 calories per day!

Once I lose another 7 pounds I will put it up to around 1500-1700 in the hope of maintaining.

anyone have any advice on holidaying with MPG? or should I just forget about counting calories for 2 weeks!

Anyone sucssfully lost weight with this?
I started trying to lose weight on 3 March when I weighed 71Kg.

I managed to lose 1.5 Kg just by cutting things out but on 15 March, I decided to start MFP.

Three months later I now weigh 62Kg, so I have lost 7.5Kg on MFP but 9Kg overall.

I would definitely say that MFP works.

authoritynutrition.com/how-many-calories-per-day/

This calculates the amount of calories you should eat a day depending on age / height / weight. Apparently it's pretty accurate.
