Hiya guys!! i have literally been diagnosed with diabetes today. I am clueless on this one. I've heard low sugar, low carbs etc - anyone with any dietary advice (or any advice !! ) I would be grateful. I'm not going to a diabetic clinic of any kind until about September and I have not been given a blood glucose testing machine yet. I have to have more blood tests about two weeks before I go to the clinic. My friend has said that I can use her machine for the moment. I really need advice guys on this one ......help!!!!!!

As a health care professional, I'd suggest you eat normally, healthily, avoid added sugar - until your next clinic. Perhaps ask your GP for more specific advice?

Eat a healthy balanced diet. Nothing is forbidden. Choose unprocessed foods where you can. Look at the GI diet.
Focus on meat, fish, eggs, fruit and veg.
Don't eat too much high sugar fruit.
Go for seeded rather than white bread/pittas/wraps etc

What kind of diabetic are you? 1 or 2?
You'll quickly work out what's gonna work for you. Good luck
