How do you count exercise calories?

For example, when I do the 30 day shred or another fitness video, I'm never sure what to put it under - I put 'aerobics' but I'm not sure if that's right.

I'm also wondering if anyone could help me with this - I've just done this video and in the description it says it burns 422-579 calories - surely that's not possible! It just seems like far too many, and obviously I want to be realistic about calorie counting my exercise.

is the video.

Thanks! :)

The DVD or free apps like MyFitnessPal will always be an estimate at the end of the day. I think the only true way to work out how many calories you have burned is using a heart rate monitor with watch/system that will calculate it for you. Otherwise, it's better to under-estimate calories burned if you're eating the exercise-cals back.

i dont count any exercise calories as i dont believe the figures i was getting back from my fitness pal

Me neither, chips - and I didn't start losing weight on MFP until I stopped entering exercise cals.

Sounds like that estimate might be per hour. I can't open the video but if it's 10 or 20 minutes then maybe that makes more sense.
