I've been using mfp since the start of the year and started exercising at the same time and have lost a stone and a half by sticking to 1400 calories a day.
I'm now 2 pounds lighter than my original goal weight but want to lose another 2 pounds.
I've completely changed my diet and I'm finding it hard to sustain my new activity levels on 1400 calories a day and I also realise that I will have to up my calories when I reach my goal weight so I will be eating "normally" again.
Do I have to increase my daily calories gradually? is it reasonable to do this now so that I will still be losing (albeit more slowly) but able to eat slightly more? I was thinking of an increase to 1550 a day and seeing how it went, does this sound ok?
any advice is welcome.

I'm in a similar position. I've lost a substantial amount of weight and now (in a few pounds time) need to learn to maintain/ stay within a comfortable +/- 3lb range.

I'm not going to up my general Mon- Fri cals. I think I'm going to reintroduce a bit of Alcohol with a more relaxed calorie wise evening meal on a Saturday and full roast on a Sunday with pudding.

As a vague rule 1lb is 3500cals so if you're losing at a rate of 1lb/ week you're short 500 cals/ day.
