HRT

Hi I've been on HRT for just over 3 months and have gained nearly a stone in weight. I planned to go on a diet in the New Year but someone has told me that if I am still taking HRT a diet won't make any difference.
Does anyone know if there is any truth in this? If so, I am thinking of coming off the HRT. None of my clothes fit properly anymore.

PS I plan to exercise as well

I have been on HRT for years, made no difference to me except that in feeling better in myself I've been more motivated to keep to an ideal weight. Has the HRT made you more confident and cheerful and caused you to eat more perhaps? When I tried to come off it my sweats were so bad it was dripping down my face and back, I had to shower 4 times a day and my mood was foul.
