school won't tell us what action they will take

hi all

my ds who is 7 has been experiencing bullying from one particular child since he started infant school (he's year 2) . We've been to the school a number of times and things improve for a while the slip back again. The bullying mainly consists of excluding ds from group play and telling he can't play with certain children (who agree partly i supsect to avoid being bullied themselves) but also physical hitting, pushing, pinning down etc.
there was an incident this week and i spoke to his class teacher, she's thinks he's a target since he feels low due to new baby!! I don't accept this and hes been very positive bout baby at home.
She says she taking action but won't tell me what this is and seemed apalled at the mere idea of me asking. So my question is are schools not allowed to tell you what punishments bullies get?

no they are not allowed to tell you about another child at all

ask for their bullying policy to see how you can escalate up the school hierarchy if you need to

the school has a duty to protect your child and has to consider confidentiality wrt the other child

I hope you have more success than me...

I think they should be able to tell you what action they are taking without breaching confidentiality about the other child. If they are silent, how do you know if they are actually doing anything?
