hi , this is my first time using a site like this but i desperately need advice from other mums , i have a very unhappy 10 yr old son who has been getting bullied for 3 yrs now , until recently it has just been name calling etc but lately the bullies have kicked & punched him , pulled his chair out from under him etc , when the teacher leaves the room they call him a RETARD
WE HAVE SPOKEN TO THE PRINCIPLE but its still happening , what else can we do ? my son used 2 be a happy , smiley child but is now very moody , any advice would be great thanks

Hello, sorry to hear about your ds. It sounds truly horrible. I can't offer any practical advice i'm afraid, but didn't want your post going unanswered. I'm sure someone will be along soon to be more practical use to you

Bullying is a part of human nature and something kids must learn to cope with if they are to survive some of the other crap life will throw at them.

BUT by dealing with i don't mean accepting.
Be glad that DS is willing and able to talk to you about it, as we all know, kids can become desperate when they feel they can't do anything about the bullying and could harm themselves, because everything seems so hopeless.

Three whole years and the school have done naff all it seems.. ok, then its time to get rid of the british no-fuss attitude and start kicking up a stink.
Your kid is being ASSAULTED and verbally/emotionally abused every day in a place where he is supposed to be learning, feel happy and secure.

NOT acceptable.
What strategies do the school have in place for bullying?

thanks sercusaccidit, i checked out that link , it has great advice , yes i'm lucky that my son is willing 2 talk to us about whats going on , when my husband & i went up 2 the principle SEVERAL times 2 talk things over with her she more or less said her hands are tied , so we are very frustrated at this stage , i would hate 2 have 2 change schools as the school he is in has a great reputation & we moved house so we could send him there.

Get hold of the schools bullying policy. Also would it be worth contacting the schhool gvernors?

thanks guys for all the advice , its giving me new hope 2 try get this resolved , my fear is that although the kids are only 10 now , how far will they go when they get a bit older {hmm} , doesn't bare thinking about ,
just talking about it 2 other mums has been a great help .
