Unkind comments to DS aged 6

My DS is just coming to the end of year 1 and asked me tonight if i thought he was cool. I, of course, said yes definately. He said that he was friends with x cause she said he was cool and didn't tell him that he had a thin head. What?!! Turns out some little s*ts have been teasing him saying he has a thin head. Its heartbreaking and IK don't know how i can help.

Any ideas?

ITs really hard isn't it - you put on a brave face for them but you see they are hurting.

as hard as it is, if he ignores the comments they'll eventually stop. Very difficult lesson to learn though. Is he bothered by it? If so mention it to the teacher. If not leave it.

I always thought I liked all children. Until MY children came home and reported unkind comments. I will shamefully admit that I have wanted to beat the crap out of some of the boys in DS1's class I thought all children were so sweet, but they really are not.

I do think children survive a few unkind comments though. I sometimes think I have been more upset by them than my children. Obviously if its more like bullying I would go and see the teacher.

Children can be utterly horrid to each other can't they. Your poor DS.

If he is struggling to find friends he can trust not to call him names at school, it might be nice to take him to some out of school activities where he can make friends too and bolster his self-esteem.

Imho as an ex-bullied person it is crucial to not let the other kids see that it bothers him. Kids love it if someone reacts.
