So I was invited to a group gathering - by someone I thought was a friend- should I be offended by this message

Hiya love, hope you are good 🥰. Ok so i’ve messed up 😫 i totally forgot to tell Paula (she has booked everything) that you might be coming in the 5th. It was only yesterday when you texted and i still forgot to text Paula . It’s been really stressful for her organising it all. You are welcome to join us all for drinks after our meal about 6/7 on that saturday.

I would give her the benefit of the doubt on this occasion, turn up for the drinks and just laugh it off.

So, someone invited you to a meal but didn't actually tell the person who was organising/booking it, so you were not invited in first instance? Is this a separate group of friends that your not that close to to not have had an invite at the start of the booking/planning stage? Do you know Paula? Can't you message her and say "so and so said your going out on thai date and asked me to come- ill phone and book on to save you amending the booking?"

Ultimately though your "friend" sounds like a flake

Maitri108 · 27/03/2025 20:46

I'd be a bit annoyed but I wouldn't take it personally.

Cabbagefamily · 27/03/2025 20:48

Why would you be offended? Were you expecting to go to the meal? What sort of gathering was it meant to be?

Wolfiefan · 27/03/2025 20:50

Why have you put this in the bullying section?

DenholmElliot11 · 27/03/2025 20:52

yeah i wouldn't bother to be honest.

Skeldale · 27/03/2025 21:12

Without any backstory I’d assume the person had genuinely messed up and maybe the booking cannot be amended i.e they’ve only got a table for 6 and can’t add a 7th.

Obviously you know these people and what ‘Paula’ is like. Your friend hasn’t said don’t come at all, so it doesn’t sound like a total snub.

Jaessa · 06/04/2025 23:24

It sounds like it could be an honest mistake. If you think of them as a friend, best thing is to clear this with them

arethereanyleftatall · 06/04/2025 23:28

How is this bullying?

Tbrh · 06/04/2025 23:32

Sounds like it's just a mistake, don't overthink it
