SEN child bully

My son is in Year 7 in Secondary school so just started in September and there is a boy who I’m assuming is special needs and he and his parents are making my son’s life in school very unpleasant. The boy spits on kids, shouts, pushes and today pushed my son down the stairs. His mother insists that my son is bullying her son (her son said my son broke his glasses which he denies) and she actually followed my son from school to the high street and shouted at him. I’ve complained to the school and they told her off. This happened a week ago. My son is retaliating and I realise this will get him in trouble. What is the best way to deal with the parent and the child? I don’t have any contact with them but even though the school told her off for following him she’s still staring at him and trying to intimidate him when he leaves school. He won’t let me pick him up as he thinks it will escalate. Any advice? I’m waiting for the school police officer to contact me but haven’t heard back yet.

Ask the school to separate the children as far as possible. This might involve moving your son's classes. Tell your son to stay away from the other boy at breaks and lunch. Call the police yourself on the woman who is harassing your son and let the school know you have done so.
