Hi, this is my first time posting so hopefully I've done this right.
My daughter has started year 7 this year, at the end of her second week she got into a fight. She wasn't the instigator, the other girl (a renowned bully in her primary school - but that's another story entirely) came at my daughter from behind.
The fight was recorded by two fellow pupils and shared around on social media.
What's worse is the school didn't inform us. Neither did my daughter. We were made aware after seeing the video of the altercation online.
After this followed a whole weekend of cyber bullying towards my child, including a group of 12 children seeing her outside and chasing her home. They then sent photos of our house to her and hung around outside waiting to see if she'd leave the house again. I wasn't there myself to confront them, her grandmother was and didn't feel comfortable facing them all. I found out who the children were and dealt with it myself by phoning parents. All of them were apologetic and helpful, and had a word with their children.
On Monday this week I went into the school to complain about them 1)not letting me know and 2) the fact the fight was filmed on school grounds and the teachers didn't confiscate the devices of the two children who filmed it.
I fully expected the school to take action against these two children, a detention and phone home to inform the parents of what they had done. An apology to my daughter, even? As a parent I would be horrified if my children filmed something like this instead of calling for help and then go one step further and spread it around. I have asked the school for updates and have heard nothing back.
Am I being unreasonable with my expectations?
