What can the school do about bullying on the bus and online?

My 13-year-old Y8 DD2 is being bullied by a former friend who makes derogatory comments about her on social media, encourages others to give her dirty looks (one charming TikTok video that stayed up for 4 days), follows her and her friends making gagging sounds, and makes comments about her on the bus, calls her a snitch etc. The school has “advised” the girl to be nice and not to post these things, but isn’t intervening further, stating that they cannot police social media and the other girl denies it (despite screenshots) and says my DD2 is lying. My DD2 is upset and often scared to go to school. It’s been going on about a month. My DD is speaking again to the HOY again today for him to hear her side a bit more, but I’m worried nothing will change but instead things get worse. What should I be expecting from the school? Surely they can do more?

God this is so sad. My sympathies go out to your dd.

Bullying sure has changed since i was at school. I suppose anything online just try and keep a record of it, screen shots etc

At least then you have the evidence to back it up.

What can they do other than talk to them?

Collect all evidence and engage with the police.
