Friend being bullied

DD(9) has started to become friendy with Scarlett. They have known each other since nursery but have never been good friends until now. Scarlett has an SEN statement and has difficulty controlling her emotions (gets angry and has meltdowns).

Recently, some boys have started to call Scarlett names (dumb, stupid, smells, poo) and have escalated this term. DD and I have talked about this and this is called bullying. She is now terrified that she will be the next target. Please help.

Oh also teach her resilience. How to ignore and deal with bullies. She won't be a victim if she doesn't just sit back and take it because bullies target the weak.
