Hi
Been having some issues with our eldest, they went through some nasty stuff a few years ago which led to bullying at school and there has been a lot of off/on bullying ever since they started secondary school.
Anyway this culminated in finding a note saying they "wanted to die" and then found they'd been self harming too.
Talked it over with them as best we could despite them not wanting to talk to us obviously, we've tried our GP who was utterly useless just kept saying come back in 2 weeks (assuming you can get an appt), self-referred to another child service who said they couldn't help but try the school nurses service.
First appointment, after 1 hour they've discharged declaring "they don't have any signs of mental ill health"
Can you really make a judgement on a child that quickly??
Seems ridiculous to me, if it were that easy social services, police, therapists etc wouldn't need so long to get through to them.
Personally as someone who has suffered from depression their entire life I don't understand how someone supposedly an "expert" can't understand that you can have better days when you manage to put a brave face on and others when you can't get out of bed.
So now we're back on our own trying to deal with everything. We've been to the school had meetings etc and think we have a handle on dealing with bullying but it's trying to get serious help for the child when we just get fobbed off from all the services supposed to help.
I'm currently writing a reply to their discharge letter refuting some of their claims where either they, school or child has lied because there are some fibs in here too.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received, thanks
