Tips to help my child help himself

Hi,
My ds is in yr 7, he’s enjoying school, really loves the lessons etc, but... he is getting bullied on the bus and at school.
I’ve tried to give him some ideas on how to deal, but he a sensitive (lovely) boy, and he’s worrying about what might happen if he stands up for himself. I don’t want him to be violent, but I want him to be confident in standing up for himself.
Anyone got any suggestions please?

Oh love... no real advice but didn’t want to read and run. Your poor DS and poor you. Some sage MNetters will be along with practical advice shortly but sending love. Bullying is the worst form of thing a kid can endure xxx

My son's karate class is really good at teaching kids how to deal with bullying. Not only how to physically block punches and kicks but also role playing how to tell someone to leave you alone and behaviours to deflect bullies.
