Bike Thefts

I have noticed an increase in the number of bike thefts across the country.
In October three children in Preston were attacked whilst riding their bikes.
Has anyone seen or heard about incidents like this?
Have any schools sent out letters warning parents and children about riding their bikes home after school?

no... BUT it's well known that bicycles are frequently vandalised at local secondary school. :( So much so that very few cycle.

Which local secondary school is this?
Has anyone else seen/heard about bikes being vandalised?
Is it 'uncool' for kids nowadays to ride a bike?
I remember when everyone wanted a bicycle for Christmas now its ipods and ipads :(

It's what a local youth tell me, Hannah, I've no reason to disbelieve it. Bikes are still very cool judging by skate park activity, so it may have been part of targetted bullying :(.
