Take child off roll if they have left because of bullying??

Hi there,

Does anyone know if I should take my child off the school's roll if he has left because of bullying?

I have been advised by LA to do this, but would like to get some answers from head in writing before I do this (if I should at all) as I don't want them to wash hands of us if I tell them we're home schooling.

Anyone else had same experience?

If you take your child off the roll you cannot take any further action through LA or ombudsman etc - that's the end of it. I did remove my child because of bullying, I didn't want to take it further (wish I had) and the school were literally begging me to put it in writing so that they could wash their hands of us!!

If you can, leave him on the roll, carry on with your home schooling. What I didn't realise was that if your child is out of school for 6 weeks (yes it takes ages) then the school must show proof of what assistance they have offered you to overcome the problem - in the meantime you can make a formal complaint, go through governors etc. I'd just make sure you put everything in writing.

You can get further advice (free) from the Advisory Centre for Education (ACE) www.ace-ed.org.uk - obviously get them to confirm what I have said just in case things have changed, this was 2 years ago in my case. Good Luck.

In my head (which has felt like it would burst open with combustion) I feell like I want and end to all this so write the letter and get it done and dusted but in my heart I know i'll regret it and wish i'd of not let these people get away with it too.

It's also hard because I am a teacher and lots of talk has circulated around where i live I think and most people have only heard one side of the story.

My son has been bullied by 4 boys, one of whom is the secretary's son which also made situation more difficult. School in total denial, also by staff and others' that I thought agreed there was a definate problem. I felt everyone was against me...

Will definately do what I know is right and thank you again for making me see that I am right. In a kind of theraputic - wait for an answer, get your head in gear and do it because you I know this has to be stopped...
